Councillor squatting in villa
Deputy mayor of Arboleas driving expat neighbours "to despair"
By Richard Torné A RULING Arboleas councillor has been squatting with his partner in a villa in a residential neighbourhood for more than a year, Costa Almería News can reveal.
Antonio Gallegos, who is also the town's deputy mayor in addition to being councillor for social welfare and education, has been squatting in the villa located in the quiet district of Los Menchones on the outskirts of Arboleas since January 2009.
The intended owners of the property, a retired expat couple living in the UK, Eva and Edward Banford, never moved in, having instructed the developer, Gordon Condrey, to sell the 124,000-euro villa on for them.
